Hauskaa joulua ja onnea uudelle vuodelle 2018! - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2018

"Joulukortin" koko oikeasti 60 x 120 cm, materiaalina mm. tapetti, metallinapit ja helmet (kaikki kierrätystavaraa), tekniikkana origami. Kaikki kiinnitetty alustaansa nuppineuloilla. Tähtinauhan pituus 3 - 4 m, luulen. Tehty Nextiilin myymälän joulukoristeeksi.

Seuraava päivitys joskus tammikuun 2018 alussa.

Real size of this "Christmas card" is 60 x 120 cm, I used wallpaper, metal buttons, pearls and other stuff (everything is recycled) to make this. Technique is origami and every figure and button "stars" are fastened into the background with pins. Length of the star stripe is about 3 - 4 m, I believe. I made this as a Christmas decoration into Nextiili shop.

Next update sometimes in the beginning of January 2018.

IKEA-hyllykön uusi ilme - New look for Ikea shelves

Muutama vuosi sitten ostelin nappeja kilokaupalla, tuollaiset 5 - 6 kg kerrallaan.

Some years ago I used to buy buttons 5 - 6 kg at one time. My nephew heard about that and said: "Now you can cover a whole wall with buttons!". Well, not yet a whole wall this time, but some doors of an IKEA shelves got an incomplete coating with buttons. Incomplete because I had not enough green buttons to cover the whole door. Size of each door is 32 x 32 cm, buttons I needed about half a kilo.

Covering different units with buttons will continue. You just wait and see what happens after I have bought enough thin plywood! Why plywood, you might ask. Well, I used very strong glue to put those green buttons on their places, and they can not be removed without damage. So I have to be satisfied forever with those doors now. When I start next project with buttons, I'll have plywood where I'll fasten the buttons, and then I'll fasten the plywood somehow (not with glue) on it's final place. I can remove plywood anytime if I'll get bored with button covering.

Joulua odotellessa - Waiting for Christmas

Joulun odotuksen helpottamiseksi tein Nextiilissä kuusimetsän, siitä on sitten helppo oma joulupuu valita. Materiaalina erilaiset kankaat ja tapetti, taustana ilmoitustaulu, kokoa työllä on 40 x 60 cm. Kuuset tein origamityönä.

To make it easier to wait for Christmas, I made a wood of fir-trees at work in Nextiili. From there it is easy to choose which will bee your Christmas tree. To make this work I used different kind of fabrics and wallpaper, background is a message board. Size of this work is 40 x 60 cm. Fir-trees are made by origami technique.

Makuuhuoneen verho - New curtain into my bedroom

Kuluneen vuoden aikana on tullut virkattua yhtä ja toista, mm. tällä kertaa esittelyssä oleva makuuhuoneen kappa. Lankana ohut pellava: valkaisematon lanka 3-kertaisena ja oranssi 2-kertaisena, koukut nro 2 ja 1,75. Pituus 3 m, leveys 10 - 63 cm + 6 - 9 cm "hapsut". Painoa verholla valmiina kilon verran (sisältää nappien painon) ja nappeja "hapsuihin" käytettiin 597 kpl. Malli ihan omasta päästä.

Verhoa paikoilleen laittaessani saatoin vain ihmetellä kuinka löytyy ihmisiä jotka haluavat tehdä saman työn (verhojen vaihdon) useamman kerran vuodessa. Itse vaihdan verhot sitten kun saan uudet tehtyä, yleensä n. 10 vuoden välein.

During this year I have crocheted many things, including this curtain into my bedroom. I used very thin linen yarn: non bleached 3 yarns together, orange 2 yarns together, and I used hooks number 2 and 1,75. This curtain is 3 meters long, 10 - 63 cm wide (+ 6 - 9 cm "fringes") weights one kilo (including buttons) and I used 597 buttons to make the "fringes". Model is my own.

When I put this curtain into its place I could only wonder how is it possible that there is many people who want to do this operation (change curtains) many times in a year. I change new curtains every time I have made new ones, usually about once in ten years.

Farkkutyynyjä - Cushions made of jeans fabrics

Kuten varmaan on jo käynyt selväksi, farkku on minulle lähestulkoon pakkomielle.

As you may have noticed, jeans fabric is almost an obsession for me. I have to make everything possible and sometimes even a little bit impossible of jeans. This time you'll see some cushions I made at work.

Tyynyn koko n. 65 x 65 cm.
Black jeans fabrics, red striped velvet and a chiffon scarf with velvet print. A farewell gift for a young man who used black and red clothes with a scarf. Size of this cushion is about 65 x 65 cm.

Punottu tyyny leikeaplikaatiokoristein. Tyynyn koko 40 x 40 cm, myyty.
A woven cushion with applications and cuttings. Size of this cushion 40 x 40 cm, sold.

Pyöreä tyyny 5-kulmioista. Halkaisija ehkä 30 cm.
A round cushion made of pentagons. About 30 cm diameter.

Jättityyny sekalaisin koristein. Tyynyn koko 70 x 70 cm, myyty.

Joulukalentereita - Advent calendars

Meillä on joulukalenteri-ikä jo ohitettu, mutta silti oli ihan pakko tehdä pari myyntiin Nextiilin myymälään. Molemmissa numerot on maalattu akryyliväreillä. Ja kaikki materiaalit tietysti kierrätysmateriaaleja.

We have already passed the advent calendar age, but still I had a feeling that I must sew a calendar or two for sale at Nextiili Shop. The numbers are painted with acrylic colors. And all materials are recycled.

Mekon mallinen kalenteri, ripustimena henkari, kaarroke tehty virkatusta pöytäliinasta.
A calendar which looks like a dress with a firm coat hanger, collar is made of a crocheted table cloth.

Perinteisempi kalenterimalli aplikoiduin tonttukuvin, tehosteina kultalankaa ja kulkusia.
A more traditional model of an advent calendar with on-sewed goblins, "gold" yarn and jingle bells.

Pari kuvaa yksityiskohdista. Huomaa tontun rubiinilyhty.
Two pictures of the details. Notice the ruby lantern.

Solmioista tehtyjä - Made of neckties

Olisikohan solmio uusi farkku? No todennäköisesti ei ainakaan minun kohdallani, minulle farkkukangas on lähestulkoon pakkomielle, odottakaapa vain mitä kaikkea teenkään farkkukankaasta jatkossa! Mutta olen minä solmioistakin tehnyt tuotteita, tällä kertaa esittelen Nextiilissä tekmiäni solmiotuotteita.

Could neckties be new jeans fabrics? Probably not in my case, for me jeans fabrics is almost an obsession, you only wait and see what I'll make of jeans somewhere in future! Anyways, I HAVE made products of old neckties at work in Nextiili.

A tablecloth. Size about 50 x 100 cm or something like that. It looks very wrinkled, but if you sew diagonal into diagonal fabric, you can not get anything else but wrinkled, can you?

Pinkki-sininen kassi, vuoritettu, sisällä ja ulkona taskuja, farkkukangasta lisänä. Koko ehkä 40 x 40.
A bag made of pink, purple and blue neckties, with lining and pockets in- and outside, decorations made of jeans fabrics. Size maybe about 40 x 40 cm.

Laukun toinen puoli.
The other side of the bag.

Punottuja solmiotyynyjä, tässä vihreä versio. Tyynyn koko 40 x 40 cm + n. 5 cm reunus.
Woven cushions made of neckties, here the green one. Size of the cushion is 40 x 40m cm + 5 cm rim.

Itse tykkään tästä enemmän kuin tuosta vihreästä versiosta.
I like this more than the green one.

"Rahin" koko n. 70 x 70 x 40 cm.
Footstool, or actually a folded mattress, which has been covered with neckties and jeans fabrics. The size of the "footstool" is about 70 x 70 x 40 cm.

Joka sivu on eri värinen.
Every side is made of different shades of blue or purple.

Sakset (tavalliset Fiskarsin oranssit) näyttävät mittakaavan.
The scale can be seen in this picture, scissors are original orange version of Fiskars' scissors.

And last but absolutely not least: THANK YOU, my readers from Ukrainian! For some (for me) peculiar reason, you are nowadays the most active readers of this blog. During last month there has been 869 views in Ukrainian, but only 140 views in Finland, and the same phenomenon has been seen during very many months. It would be very interesting to hear what in this blog keeps you reading this month after month. If someone of you liked to answer me by e-mail, write in English, please. And of course, keep on reading this blog, it is always so nice to see that people are interested in what I do and write. THANK YOU!

Myöhästynyttä halloweenia! - Delayed Halloween!

The original Halloween has been gone now, but I still want to show some Halloween-cushions I made at work (Nextiili). These are the best ones, I made many others but these are the ones I want to show.

Hymynaama meni kaupaksi tunnin päästä myyntiin laittamisesta. Toinen "kaiverrettu" kurpitsa on kollegan suunnittelema, itse en keksinyt enempää "kaiverruksia".
The smiling pumpkin was sold within an hour after putting these for sale. Other "carved" pumpkin is my colleague's design because I could not create more "carvings".

Halusin tehdä myös pelkästään kurpitsan näköisiä tyynyjä, eivät nämäkään kauaa ostajia odottaneet.
I wanted to make pumpkin-look-like cushions, these were bought also quite quickly.

Farkkupäällysteisiä raheja - Footstools covered with jeans fabric

Sain töissä uudistettavakseni pari aikansa elänyttä rahia. Farkku kun on lähes pakkomielteeni, joten nuo rahitkin piti päällystää farkkukankaalla, tietysti kierrätetyllä sellaisella.

At work I got two footstools which needed new covers. Because jeans is almost an obsession for me, I had to cover those footstools with jeans, too. And of course all materials are recycled.

My first footstool, height 30 cm, 48 cm diameter. When this was ready, I decided to buy it myself because I loved it so much.

Tämä, edellistä  suurempi rahi myytiin parin päivän kuluttua näytteille asettamisesta.
This footstool, larger than the one above, was sold two days after we put it on sale.

Tyhjän seinän fobia? - Phobia of an empty wall?

I have earlier told that I have some kind of obsession (read this update). I'm afraid that I have also a phobia of an empty wall. This result I got when I watched the walls of our flat and country cottage. Very many of you may get the same result after watching these photos, which are from the living- and bedroom of our country cottage. Almost any of our walls look like these.

Following four pictures are from corners of living room. On the invisible area of the walls are windows and doors.

There is still some empty space left, it should absolutely be filled with something...

Nämä kolme kuvaa ovat makuuhuoneesta. Näkymättömällä alueella on ikkuna, oviaukko ja peili.
These three pictures are from our bedroom. On the invisible area are window, door and a mirror.

Makuuhuoneen yksi seinä on täynnä vaatekaappeja. Tyhjää valkoistakaan en näköjään siedä, oli pakko kuvioida ovet.
One wall of our bedroom is filled with closets. Empty white seems also to be one of my phobias, I had to decorate the doors.

Tekokukkia - Fake flowers

Olen aiemminkin tehnyt tekokukkia, silloin ne olivat ihan aidon näköisiä (http://nappijapaperi.blogspot.fi/2016/03/eihan-kukaan-voi-tehda-aitoja-nobody.html). Tällä kertaa hieman vähemmän aidon näköisiä kukkia, materiaalina olkatoppaukset, paperinaru, pitkät grillitikut, rautalanka, helmet, liima ja lakanasuikaleet.

I have earlier made fake flowers which looked just like authentic flowers in nature (http://nappijapaperi.blogspot.fi/2016/03/eihan-kukaan-voi-tehda-aitoja-nobody.html). This time a little less authentic flowers made of shoulder pads, paper string, long barbeque sticks, iron yarn, wooden pearls, glue and narrow stripes of cotton sheet.

Nämä kaksi seuraavaa muistuttavat hieman kallan kukkia.
These two look a little bit like calla flowers.

Tästä en sitten tiedäkään mikä tämä olisi.
I have no idea what this could be.

Tämä yrittää esittää ruusua.
This is supposed to be a rose.

Heijastimia - Reflectors

Jotain pientä ja erilaista piti töissä tekemäni, tuloksena tällä kertaa heijastimia. Mallit ovat omasta päästä. Heijastimia saa Nextiilin myymälästä kohtuuhintaan, käykää katsomassa jos olette maisemissa.

Something small, simple and different had to be made at work, this time I made reflectors (which are available only in Nextiili shop here in Finland, Tampere). Models are my own.

Aamutossun näköisiä heijastimia
Reflectors which look like slippers

Puinen lankarulla ja heijastin-terenauhaa. Idea kollegan, minä "vähän" jalostin sitä.
Wooden base with reflector band. This is my colleague's idea, I made it look like me.

Perinteisempiä heijastimia pitsikoristein
More traditional reflectors with lace decoration

These are nothing special except those decorations. I only wanted to show that I can do normal, too.
